Pythia was the name of the priestesses throughout the history of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi and were credited for their prophecies. The Pythia delivered divine oracles in a frenzied state induced by vapors rising from a chasm in the rock.
The Pythia necklace is made from kumihimo-braided black linen and a hand-built glazed ceramic pendant. Black linen fringe is dip-dyed in bleach and attached to the bottom of the pendant. Copper clamp at top of necklace for closure.
38 inches in diameter and pendant is 1 1/2 inches wide.
